From Rock Bottom to Shea: The 4 Soaps That Built the Man I Needed to Become

From Rock Bottom to Shea: The 4 Soaps That Built the Man I Needed to Become

Parikshith Mohan

I Was 26… And I Had Nothing

I was 26.

No job.
Broke.
Obese.
Living with my parents.

And mentally? Not in a great place either.

I had anxiety. I had depression. And I had this constant fear sitting in the back of my mind:

“What if none of this works?”

For 4 years, I failed at everything I tried.

Every new idea felt like this could be it
and then it wasn’t.

My days started the same way—waking up sweating, chest tight, heart racing. Not exactly the motivational morning routine you see on Instagram.

And the worst part?

I didn’t even know who I was anymore.

The Only Thing I Had Was a Goal

I didn’t have money.
I didn’t have connections.
I didn’t have confidence.

But I had one thing:

I wanted to become an entrepreneur.

No backup plan. No logic. Just stubbornness.

And somehow, through pure randomness… I had picked up one skill:

Perfumery.

How Curiosity Became My Only Edge

When I was living in Bangalore, I got obsessed with fragrances.

Not in a fancy way.

More like:
buying decants of popular perfumes and sitting there trying to figure them out like a mad scientist.

“What’s in this?”
“Why does this smell like that?”
“What happens if I mix this?”

I wasn’t trained. I wasn’t guided.

Just curious… and slightly jobless, so I had time.

That curiosity slowly turned into the only thing I was actually good at.

Shea Started in My House… With My Mother

Here’s something most people don’t know:

Shea didn’t start with me.

It started with my mother.

I was dealing with a lot of skin issues at the time, so she learned soap-making first. Then she taught me.

So technically… she’s the original founder. I just took the credit later.

Our first attempts together?

Not bad.

My attempts alone?

Let’s just say… expensive mistakes were made.

Wrong ingredients. Bad batches. Wasted money.

At one point I was basically funding my failures like a subscription service.

But I kept going.

Because honestly… I didn’t have anything else.

The Anger That Changed Everything

Around the same time, I looked at myself and thought:

“This cannot be my life.”

I was overweight.
Unhealthy.
Tired all the time.

So I started working out.

Not because I was motivated.

Because I was angry.

Angry at myself. Angry at where I ended up.

And for once in my life—I didn’t quit.

I had no idea what I was doing though.

Got cheated by trainers. Followed nonsense plans. Wasted more money.

Eventually I said, “Enough.”

And decided to learn everything myself.

The science. The methods. The truth.

That’s when things started to change.

The Confidence I Didn’t Have

I wasn’t always comfortable talking to people.

I was introverted.
Awkward.
Had a solid inferiority complex.

Eye contact felt like a boss fight.

Conversations? Even worse.

But things slowly started shifting when:

  • I got fitter
  • I started Shea
  • I began making videos

Somewhere along the way… I stopped overthinking and just started showing up.

The First 4 Soaps—They Were Never Random

When I created Shea’s first 4 soaps…

I wasn’t just making products.

I was creating the man I wanted to become.

Hustling Panda – The Man Who Doesn’t Quit

This one was simple.

A man who shows up every single day.

No excuses. No mood swings. No “I’ll start tomorrow.”

Just work.

At that time, I wasn’t that man yet.

But I wanted to be.

Social Chimp – The Man Who Can Walk Into Any Room

This one came from insecurity.

I wanted to be someone who:

  • Looks people in the eye
  • Holds conversations
  • Makes connections
  • Tries new things

Basically… not the guy standing awkwardly in the corner.

Gymnut Dolphin – The Man Who Builds Himself

This one came from pain.

From bad workouts. Bad guidance. Bad decisions.

But also from the decision to fix it.

To become stronger.
More disciplined.
More resilient.

No matter how many times things didn’t go my way.

Fancy Toucan – The Man Who Knows His Worth

This one’s different.

Because it’s about slowing down.

Taking that one moment after a long day…
to enjoy a proper shower.

To reset.

To feel like you actually deserve something good.

And weirdly enough—those showers helped my mental health a lot.

Some days they calmed my anxiety.

Some days they helped me think clearly.

Some days… they were the only peaceful part of my day.

These Were My Deepest Desires

Every soap I made…

Was a version of me that didn’t exist yet.

I built them before I became them.

And over time…

I slowly grew into them.

Shea Was Never Just About Soap

It was about control.

In a life that felt uncertain…

this was something I could build.

Something I could improve.

Something that moved forward—no matter how slowly.

And as I changed…

Shea changed too.

Better products. Better thinking. Better execution.

What Shea Means Today

Today, my goal is simple.

I want Shea to be part of every man’s journey.

Not the highlight of it.

Not the solution to everything.

Just a small part of the process.

A moment in your day where you:

  • Calm down your thoughts
  • Reset your mind
  • Focus on what actually matters

Shea Is for Men Who Know They’re Meant for More

Not perfect men.

Not men who have everything figured out.

But men who know…

They’re not where they’re supposed to be yet.

Men who:

  • Are ambitious
  • Feel stuck sometimes
  • But still keep going

Even when it’s hard.

Even when it’s lonely.

I Built These Soaps Before I Became This Man

That’s the truth.

These soaps weren’t a reflection of who I was.

They were a reflection of who I wanted to become.

And somehow…

I got there.

Not perfectly. Not completely.

But far enough to look back and say—

“I’m not that guy anymore.”

Your Journey Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect

If you’re in that phase right now…

Where nothing seems to work…

Where you don’t feel like yourself…

Where you’re trying but not seeing results…

I get it.

I’ve been there.

And I’m still figuring things out too.

But if there’s one thing I learned—

It’s this:

You don’t need everything figured out.

You just need something to build.

My Final Thoughts

If you’re on that journey…

And you want a small daily ritual that helps you reset, refocus, and keep moving—

Try Shea.

Not because it will fix your life.

But because it might just help you show up again tomorrow.
